Fix for Epson Printer not working after Mac OS Sequoia upgrade

21:05 Posted by G No comments

I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of our Epson printer (a fairly old XP-245), as it doesn't support AirPrint, however it is at least cheaper to run than the previous ruinously expensive HP printers.

Recently I upgraded to Mac OS 15 Sequoia.  Printing stopped abruptly, so I hit the Epson site, which was a complete waste of time, see here - link. Even long after the release date, there's nothing useful on that part of the site.

So on to the apple forums, and here's the completely random solution, but in essence you have to go to System Settings > Privacy and Security > Local Network, and grant permissions to some random Epson applications.

Microsoft (MSN, Outlook.com or Hotmail.com) email stopped working ?

This is something I came across a few weeks ago.  A family relative was having problems with an MSN account on their Mac.  It was working fine on their iPhone, so I knew it wasn't a password problem, but I could get access by resetting up the account but it would stop working a number of hours later.

After some research, it appears that Microsoft have deprecated basic authentication, there's more information in this snappily title article - Link

This alludes to resetting up email moving from POP/IMAP to 'Switch to Outlook.com/Exchange Syncing'.  I did this but it still didn't solve the problem.

Upon further research, it turns out you also need to change how you authenticate to your account.  My installing and enrolling into Microsoft Authenticator app (we used this on an iPhone), this then sorted out the problem.
